I haven't been feeling well lately. I'm nauseous, tired and dizzy and I think I've been hallucinating, or maybe there really is a shark living in the toilet and a troll doll throwing markers at Evan.
My family are members of the Chinese Ward. We tell people we attend this ward because my husband is Chinese and it's a great way for him to stay in touch with his culture and language and be able to hear the gospel in his own tongue. But I think the real reason he likes the Chinese ward is because of the potlucks and the dragons.
Last Saturday Z and I volunteered at a soup kitchen, along with some other members of our ward.
Here we are, a bunch of Chinese people, eager and ready to serve the homeless.
I think when people started coming in and lining up they got really excited because they thought, from the looks of us, that they were getting chow mein, orange chicken, and mushu pork, or at least some fortune cookies.
Too bad it was just some bologna sandwiches. (I had to sing the entire oscar mayer wiener song to remember how to spell "bologna")
So what's with all the service stuff going on lately? Well, I have a new motto I've been trying to live by: What have I done today to deserve an extreme makeover home edition?
Meici was marching around the house today singing "I looked out the window and what did I see? Spongebob Squarepants, Spongebob Squarepants, SpongeBOB, SquarePANTS!!!"
It's 3:00 in the morning, and Z should be getting home from work pretty soon, he had to work the super late shift today. I'm staying up and waiting for him so I can kiss him good night and point out the dirty dishes he left on the table.
The other day Evan said to me, "Hey beautiful girl, have you seen my socks?"
If turning five means he just gets sweeter and sweeter, then I don't mind him growing up so fast.

Why do all we have are lame pioneer wagons that we have to pull? I want a dragon !!!
You have just inspired me, that is my new motto now too. I'm going to be laughing at that all day!
What exactly does sunshine taste like? I'd imagine it's kind of like burning...
That darned Kristina beat me to it. All I can say is if you want dragons (especially really cool ones like that) you better stick with the Chinese ward.
Who doesn't love a good dragon?! Maybe I will start coming to the Chineese ward.
UGH!! I REALLY need spell check!! I mean Chinese. UGH!!
OK I loved the homeless expecting Chinese food. I laughed.
I'd go to the Chinese ward for the Dragons too. That's cool. And who doesn't want Sunshine for Breakfast??
We often feed the missionaries from our Chinese branch. I can always tell they prefer the Chinese food, too.
(This may or may not be a statement on my cooking...)
;)
Dragons, potluck, homeless, blah, blah, blah... What I want to know if your sickness matches what the symptoms indicate-- Are you incubating??
I'm kidding about the blah, blah, blah part... it really was interesting, but I was too distracted by your tired, dizzy, nausea.
Okay I want to go to the Chinese ward! No jello at your potlucks! Love your blog.
We go to the totally American, old-white-people ward. At our last ward social we had crock pot soups and rolls.
Granted, it's an easy way to feed a crowd, but it's so boring!
I want a dragon!
What's up with the nausea? hmmm?
Do you think I can sneak into the ward with the dragon?? Sounds WAY better than my ward.
I'm afraid that my brain spaced out too after I read your symptoms...Please share.
Count me in as your newest ward member, too. (As long as I don't have to eat steamed silkworms.)
Also, clearly your children are geniuses, at least the two of them that have been born so far. (It's a little early to tell about the fetus.)
What!?! You made dinner for the community and didn't tell me about it!?!? I wanna bologna!
Maybe I'll go to the Chinese ward too and say, "Wo ai ni, wo shi mei gua ren." And then they'll kick me out. :)
Can I borrow your dragon?
My ward is full of retirees and I think a dragon is just the thing we need to spice things up.
Sorry you've been dizzy, nausteated, and hallucinating. On the bright side, it made your blog funny.
I love that she wanted to eat sunshine for breakfast, that's adorable!
So, are you preggers??

1). I'm pretty sure the Chinese invented bologna. Yup, they invented paper, fireworks, and bologna.
2). I'm pretty sure it was the bologna that is causing your symptoms. Stupid Chinese bologna.
MARY! You are hilarious! I have loved reading your blog! Your kids are adorable!!! Glad to hear you are doing well!
I would go to that ward for the potluck and dragons. But only if they include a little sunshine. And also if I was Chinese. Which is a really a shame that I'm not - since at our ward potlucks, we mostly just have the usual "potato bar." Bleck.
baby in oven?
